The way we used to hang projectors above our drop ceiling was by placing a 2x4' piece of wood across the metal support brackets of the drop ceiling, then attaching a mounting plate to the 2x4' and cutting a hole in an acoustic tile to allow the mounting tube to protrude into the conference room or office.
When a new project came up for installing 6 projectors in a newly built conference area, I found these Epson ceiling plates to use instead. They fit perfectly in a 2x2' tile area, and then using an Epson mounting kit you simply attach a bracket to the projector and it attaches directly to the Epson ceiling plate.
The install is much faster and they look very professional. Makes getting a projector installed much easier!
